How does my speaker pre-wire cabling work?

Your speaker pre-wire cabling is installed during construction to allow for future speaker installation without visible surface wiring.

The speaker cable is typically enclosed in either a pink or yellow outer sheath and is looped through your wall plate location.

What’s Inside the Cable?

Each speaker cable contains:

  • Two pairs of internal wires

    • One pair for the left speaker

    • One pair for the right speaker

The cable is pre-run from your equipment location (such as a TV cabinet or audio rack) to the designated speaker positions.

At fit-off stage, the cable is usually left neatly looped behind the wall plate, ready for termination when your speakers are installed.

Installing Your Speakers

If you are installing your own speakers, you will need to:

  • Strip the outer sheath carefully

  • Strip and terminate the internal speaker wires

  • Connect the correct polarity (+ / -) to both the speaker and amplifier terminals

Correct polarity is important to ensure proper sound performance.
