What is Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)?

Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) uses a combination of fibre and existing copper cabling to deliver internet services to your home.

During construction, Intelligent Home installs a conduit from the external connection location to a designated internal wall point, typically labelled “Fibre Conduit.”

An NBN technician will then:

  • Connect a copper cable from the street to the side of the home

  • Feed the cable through the installed conduit

  • Terminate it at the internal connection point

For FTTC connections, NBN will also supply a white device called a Network Connection Device (NCD).

Once the NCD is connected to the internal wall point, you can connect your service provider’s modem to the NCD to access the internet.
