What are the private networks (LBNCo, OptiComm and Telstra Fibre)?

While the NBN owns most of Australia’s telecommunications network, some areas are serviced by private fibre networks. These include:

  • LBNCo

  • OptiComm

  • Telstra Fibre / Velocity

These companies provide dedicated fibre internet services to homes and often include free-to-air TV via their connection boxes, so an antenna is not required.

Only a limited number of service providers connect to these networks, so it’s important to check availability before signing up.
