TV Wall Mounting Provisions: My HDMI cables do not fit, what do I do?

If your HDMI cable does not fit through the wall provision, don’t worry — this is usually due to the connector size rather than the cable itself.

Understanding the Difference

Your TV wall provision typically includes:

  • 25x50mm Ducting – Designed for HDMI, data, antenna, and USB cables

  • 25mm Electrical Conduit – Designed primarily for power cables

Most standard HDMI cables will fit comfortably inside the 25x50mm duct.

However, the 25mm conduit is much narrower, and standard HDMI connectors are often too wide to pass through it.

What Are Your Options?

If possible, always run HDMI cables through the 25x50mm duct. It is specifically designed for this purpose and accommodates most connector sizes.

Option 2: Use Slim or Oval-Head HDMI Cables

If you must use the 25mm conduit, you will need HDMI cables with:

  • Slimline connectors

  • Oval-shaped ends

  • Reduced-width housings

These are specifically designed for tight conduit installations.

Intelligent Home can supply suitable HDMI cables if required.

Helpful Tips

  • Avoid forcing large connectors through the conduit, as this may damage the cable or get it stuck.

  • Consider testing the cable fit before final wall mounting.
